FEATURES OF AN IDEAL TEA WAREHOUSE






Warehouses normally are equipped with following features:
1. Plinth height high enough & above the flood level.
2. Insures quick arrival / delivery, loading & unloading at more than 2 covered points.
3. Sufficient weighment at ingress & egress.
4. For large operation arrivals & deliveries are conveyorised & automatically weighed to avoid any damage to the chests / bags.

Blending Process
Majority Tea companies or Traders / Exporters use the bulk packaging but for branded products of which blending forms an important part. Tea blending aims at discovering tastes within taste of tea by blending different teas from different chests either mechanically or manually. Blending operation commences with the receipt of chests at warehouse. Chests conditions are verified while unloading from container. They are usually marked & placed in pallets lot wise for blending. From the blend drum the tea is drained out into a hopper for storage. Now it is ready for packing. Many automatic packaging plants are also being introduced.




Packing
Cartons are made of hard cardboard with inner aluminum liner. They are usually filled in with predetermined quantity of specific quality either by gravimetric or by volumetric method. For all the aforesaid operations, an ideal warehousing with right kind of palletisation, weighment, handling blending & packaging are of utmost importance.





FOLLOWING FACILITIES IS A MUST FOR IDEAL TEA WAREHOUSE

a. Asbestos roofing with transparent sheet to let in sunlight.
b. All the unloading / loading points covered by sheds.
c. Tea Warehouses are provided with exhaust fans.
d. All the warehouse is provide with proper toilets, a pantry & separate toilets for the labours.
e. Sufficient electricity & water supply.
